Alice (they/them) is a third year PhD student working on characterising the microbes that grow in the stomach of ruminants (such as cows and sheep) with the goal of increasing the hosts productivity and reducing microbial methane emissions. They work both at the Roslin Institute on the Easter Bush Campus, and at SRUC at Kings Buildings. When they’re not growing cow burps in the lab, or disappearing into the rabbit hole of bioinformatics, they love crocheting, attempting to keep their house plants alive, and tending to the demands of their very spoilt cat.
